My Top 5 Makeup Bag Essentials

I don’t know about you but I am always on the lookout for make-up recommendations. I love to try new products. I’m constantly sucked into the never ending deals found in the drugstore shelves but more often then not I find myself always returning back and repurchasing my old faithful favorites! Something I have also learnt over the years is that products don’t always have to have a high price tag to be the best. So here are my top 5 current makeup bag items.

Mascara – Max Factor Masterpiece Max – RRP £9.99

I could not even tell you how many mascaras I’ve tried over the years but for me this has been by far the best. The application is effortless with no big thick brush to deal with. No clots in sight or a spoolie caked with liquid. It doesn’t dry up ridiculously quick which I found with a lot of others and it lasts well throughout the day avoiding smudgy black eyes!

Eyeliner – Rimmel Soft Knol Eye Pencil – RRP £2.99

This product has probably been repurchased and a key part of my daily beauty routine since I first used makeup. The pencil is soft to apply. The colour comes out perfectly, isn’t wishy washy and it lasts. It doesn’t smudge or run and for the price is unbelievable!

Eyebrow Pencil – Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil- RRP £21.50

I’ve never got on with a mascara brush applicator when it comes to filling my eyebrows, i’m a pencil girl and this one is perfect. The pencil is smooth to apply and is slightly angled for a better application. The opposite end is a spoolie so you can then brush your brows accordingly. It has a slightly higher price tag then many I have tried but its worth the extra pennies, plush the packaging is on point!

Foundation- The Ordinary Coverage Foundation – RRP £5.95

This is a reasonably new product for me – i’m a huge Estee Lauder Doublewear fan but have been desperately trying to find a foundation which doesn’t cost me the earth every time I need a new bottle. At first I was dubious as admittedly the coverage is not as good or thick as what i’m used to but after trying it for a good amount of time i have to say I think for everyday use and in preparation for the summer its a really good alternative. The colour match was perfect and the price is unbeatable for the quality of the product.

Lipstick – Mac Satin Lipstick – RRP £17.50

I always feel so much better, more confident & happier when i’m wearing Lipstick and have become much braver in my colour choices over the last year. However, I do seem to suffer with really dry, flaky lips so finding a lipstick which lasts and doesn’t peel off quickly has always been a challenge. A few months back I treated myself to a trip into Mac Cosmetics and asked them to match me with a lipstick. I instantly fell in love with so many of their gorgeous colour choices and the lipstick lasted for hours without drying out my lips. Now £17.50 for a lipstick really is a treat for me but Is worth every penny! I picked up the colour Twig – a brownish, pink and its perfect for everyday use. I now have a wish list and hope to build my Mac Lipstick collection.
